Valerie Work is a NYC-based playwright. In March 2010, her newest play The Rules of Sleepaway Camp will premiere in Dixon Place’s Page to Stage reading series. Her full-length A Week at the NJ Shore received a workshop production at The Bushwick Starr in October 2009 and will be featured at The Pulse Performing Arts Studio in upstate New York in February 2010. “Rrrrr Argh Blech” was produced and published as part of manhattantheatresource’s October 2009 Estrogenius Festival and was previously produced in May 2009 by 11:11 Theatre Company at the Boston Center for the Arts. A Meditation on The Misanthrope: 10 Years Later was produced at Classic Stage Company in July 2008 as part of the 3rd Annual Bring a Weasel Festival. Other works have been presented at a variety of venues in NYC, Minneapolis, Washington DC, Baltimore, and New Haven. She has been awarded residencies at the Ucross Foundation and the Espy Foundation. She holds an MFA in Playwriting from Brooklyn College.
